The Roothread Standard: Closing the Loop
We offer a sustainable production solution with print-on-demand technology, reducing waste and supporting eco-friendly practices. While some textile waste is unavoidable, we work hard to repurpose, recycle, and donate.
In 2023, one of our suppliers launched initiatives like turning leftover fabric into scrunchies and headbands, saving 15,227 sq. ft. of material from landfills.
Our Waste Management Protocols

Repurposing: Damaged clothing is converted into cleaning rags.

Downcycling: Fabric scraps are shredded for furniture or toy stuffing.

Energy Recovery: As a last resort, waste is converted into energy rather than sitting in a landfill.
Product Packaging: Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR)
At Roothread, apparel is shipped in post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic mailers. PCR is made from everyday waste like used plastic bags and bottles, giving them a second life.
According to the US Plastics Pact, choosing PCR over virgin plastic reduces energy consumption by 79% and carbon emissions by 67%.

Carbon Footprint & Reduction Goals
In 2023, our average carbon footprint was 12.52 lbs (5.68 kg) of CO₂ per product. We are actively establishing science-based targets to lower this further.
